We’re two engineers in two cities, building the SEO platform we wished existed when ChatGPT started eating the SERP. No screenshot scrapers. No vanity metrics. Daily, honest, fast.
Why we exist.
We started SEONova because the tools we’d grown up with stopped working. Not all at once, not loudly - slowly. Rankings stopped correlating with traffic the way they used to. ChatGPT recommendations started mattering more than featured snippets. The dashboards we paid for were measuring what was easy, not what mattered, and there was no version of them on anyone’s roadmap that fixed it.
In late 2024, we built the first version of what’s now AI Visibility - a Python script that ran nightly, asked the LLMs the same 50 buyer-intent prompts our team was tracking, and emailed us the diffs every morning. Within three weeks, we’d caught two competitor product launches that none of our other dashboards saw. Within six weeks, the script was running for two other companies. Within twelve weeks, we’d both quit our jobs.
We didn’t set out to build an AI search tool. We set out to build the SEO platform we wished existed - and AI is just what search has become.
That was eighteen months ago. The company is still two people, working from two cities, building the SEO platform we wished existed. No screenshot scrapers. No vanity metrics. No “AI features” tacked onto a 2017 architecture. Just the engines we’d want to use, on the cadence the new search landscape demands.
Six things we’d argue about.
The principles that decide what we build, what we don’t build, and how we write about it. Mostly we got these from having the wrong opinion first.
Track what changes, not what's stable.
Averages lie. Deltas don't. The dashboard fights for the foreground of every change, not the comfort of every aggregate.
Build from the model layer up.
No screenshot scrapers. No third-party wrappers we can't reach into. The data is honest because the pipeline is.
Honest over optimistic.
If our number disagrees with another tool's number, we tell you why. We'd rather lose a feature comparison than a customer's trust.
Freshness should be visible.
Every signal should carry enough timing context for a user to understand how current it is and when it was collected.
Voice matters.
We write blog posts the way we'd want to read them. We write product copy the way we'd want to read it. No listicles, no padding, no SEO bait.
Ship, then polish.
Velocity matters, but shipped scope should be documented clearly so roadmap work is never presented as available today.
